Picea omorika 'Karel'
Globose | Zone 4
Dwarf | Green
Surprise! It's an omorika, but it doesn't look like one, more like a softer foliaged Picea abies 'Pumila'. The dwarf, rounded Serbian Spruce produces very short, forest green needles, many dense shoots and a uniform globe-like shape. The handsome, small, slow-growing plant is also very adaptable, although it prefers moist, well-drained soil and protection from drying winds. Use multiples to edge the drive or cover the foundation, or site one as a feature in a container or rock garden.
