An aristocratic small tree found in the wilds of Georgia in 1770 by John Bertram. This rare species becomes a small, airy tree with lustrous green foliage that turns beautiful shades from purple to orange and scarlet red in autumn. In late-summer, when few trees are in bloom, its large, fragrant white flowers are a striking feature.
