A vigorous, upright, red introduction, this tree develops an unusually columnar habit, the result of many apically dominant branches. The leaves hold their red tone all season long, and after they drop, the branches carry on the colorful display. They darken to a deep, sanguine red that stands out against the grays and whites of winter. Found by Ken Twombly, Twombly Nursery, Monroe, Connecticut.
