Cunninghamia konishii 'Coolwyn Compact' Globe Shaped 7 Miniature Green This rare, miniature selection of the Hayata Tree forms a very tight, flattened bun that makes an unusual addition to troughs or rock gardens. It produces layers of branchlets covered with tiny, green, juvenile foliage similar to that of Cryptomeria. In winter, the foliage takes on bronze tones. Part of a small genus of evergreen conifers native to parts of Asia, this form was discovered in Australia. Prune out any sports with faster growth.
Cunninghamia konishii 'Little Leo' Globe Shaped 7 Dwarf Green This unique, dwarf conifer, a mutation from plants commonly called "China Fir" or "China Cedar", is neither fir nor cedar. Rather, it is a selection of the Hayata Tree, a small genus of evergreen trees native to parts of Asia. This slow-growing cultivar from Australia forms a round, flat bun of short, dark-green juvenile foliage that colors up in winter, with tones that vary from bronze to purple. Despite a prickly-pincushion look, it is soft to the touch and accented by many little brown buds along short branches. Perfect for trough or rock garden. Prune out any sports with faster growth.
