Athrotaxis laxifolia  Upright Broad 7 Large Green Tasmanian Cedar. A rare tree from the temperate mountain regions of western Tasmania. Cryptomeria-like rubbery branchlets with awl-shaped to lanceolate thick leaves give it a prehistoric look. Shiny, lime green, new foliage contrasts with the darker green, loosely held, upright branches. Cones ripen in the first year. Derived from the Greek words "Athros"-crowded, and "taxis"-arrangement.
